This case study is being written. The facts below are confirmed. The detail, the decisions and the screens are still being assembled.
The context
Designing for schools that had never had software
Edvelop was built for education in emerging markets, which sets the constraints: low-cost devices, unreliable connectivity, and teachers and administrators for whom this was often the first software of its kind they had used. I joined before launch in 2014 and designed across mobile and web as the product scaled.
This is the earliest work on this site and the only product role, rather than a consulting engagement. It is here because it is the one project where I saw a long feedback loop: the thing shipped, people used it for years, and the design had to keep working as the user base grew by orders of magnitude.

What this case study needs
The sections being assembled: what changed in the design between launch and a million users, the constraints of low-end Android and intermittent connectivity, what the Microsoft award recognised, and screens.
